The Woman"s Bridge in Buenos Aires City, Argentina was made by the Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava. It is the only one of his works in Latin America and it is placed in Dock 3, Puerto Madero.
It is a pedestrian bridge with 160 metres long and 5 metres wide divided into three sections: two of them fixed in both margins of the dock and a mobile one which turns round on a conical sugar loaf of white concrete and allows ships to go through in less than two minutes. This central section is held by a steel support with concrete inside. It is 39 mts high. The support is placed diagonally and like a pendant bridge; the wires holding the turning part, hang from it.
